Mock U? What's that?

Mock U is a three-part web series that satirizes the collegiate social justice elites.

But, like, what happens?

A second-tier liberal arts college protests the new Presidential Administration with an "Arts Festival for Diversity and Progress."

Naturally, experienced and inexperienced artists come together with the noble mission to produce the most woke production.  At least, one that outshines than the piece before them.

Mock U. is a satirical web series that lovingly yet mercilessly picks apart stereotypes in a mockumentary style, showing the good, the bad, and the ugly of different people on a liberal arts college campus.

Our History

A college student had an "artistic awakening" (aka a mental breakdown to the tune of various soundtracks), then she roped some people into it.

Feeling somewhat inspired by her freshman year of college  (which chronicled both the Presidential Election and Trump's first months as President, ) Caroline Kriesen wrote the first draft of the Mock U. Pilot in April 2017.

For the pre-production stage, Zoë Rose, Colin Hodgson, Savannah Edmondson, and Emma Bers joined the effort to bring the pilot to life. They held auditions and hoped people would attend. They did.

After auditions, the script was modified again to reflect the talent and ideas of the new actor/writers, who would eventually become producers for the show.

As shooting for the Pilot continued, it became clear that Mock U. had the potential to expand into a series.  And it did.

Mock U premiered its first episode January 2018 at Brandeis University, and its second in April 2018 at the Leonard Bernstein Festival of the Creative Arts.

OUR

MISSION

Sneaky

Our team of diverse and comedic students aims to create a thought-provoking and hilarious musical/mockumentary web series.

In such a politically divisive time, it is easy to retreat into the comfort of our safe spaces- specifically, our academic communities and our artistic productions. However, with Mock U., we hope to challenge that comfort. Through the fictitious interactions of its unique and complex characters, Mock U. challenges the status quo and identifies problems with collective thinking. Hopefully you'll chuckle as it happens.
